Equipment Technician I (Transit Maintenance)
The City of Fargo is seeking an Equipment Technician I for our Transit Maintenance team. Under general supervision, the Equipment Technician I will perform preventative maintenance and general repair on the Metro Area Transit Fleet, including some automotive, and specialized equipment. Incumbent will work second shift; M - F. Requires 2 years of training in automotive or diesel and/or 2 years previous experience performing maintenance/repair or an equivalent combination of education/experience. Valid driver’s license is required, must obtain CDL permit within 6 weeks. Incumbent must furnish a complete set of hand tools. $18.02-19.10/hr DOE, plus benefits. Water Plant Operator IPosting Closes: 12/16/2016
The City of Fargo is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator I. This is an entry level position. Successful candidate will perform a variety of duties involved in the daily operation & maintenance of the water treatment plant and pump stations. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following: Operate and identify problems with manual and automated equipment, collect water samples, perform water quality testing, record pertinent data, perform light mechanical maintenance and cleaning. Physical demands of position may require occasional heavy work defined as able to exert 100 pounds of force occasionally, and or up to 50 pounds of force frequently. One year of technical training in either water or wastewater treatment or 2 years of equivalent technical employment history in water/wastewater or similar field is desired. A North Dakota Grade I Operator's Certificate from the ND Department of Health must be obtained within 18 months of hire date. Rotational day, evening, and night shifts are a requirement of this position. A valid driver’s license is also required. $16.69 to $17.69 hr., plus benefits depending on experience. The City of Fargo Inspections department is seeking a Plan Reviewer II to review building plans prior to the issuance of permits, and provide information to building/home owners and contractors to check for design compliance with national and local safety standards, codes and laws. The Plan Reviewer II is also expected to apply an extensive knowledge of building codes enforced within the city and be able to answer all procedural and technical questions raised, or know where to obtain answers quickly. An Associate’s degree in a related field, such as architectural or mechanical drafting or construction, and five or more years of related experience is required. Shelter/Detox Advocate (Part Time Overnights Weekends)
The Gladys Ray Shelter, Veterans Drop-In and Detox Center are seeking Part Time Shelter/Detox Advocates. These positions will be primarily weekends and overnights, with potential shifts as needed throughout the work week. Shelter/Detox Advocates work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends. The Shelter/Detox Advocate provides and enhances safe emergency shelter, drop-in services, and detox center services. The advocate meets the immediate needs of homeless persons that cannot access other shelter options in the community, as well as the needs of the detox center clients. As a direct contact for the guests and clients, the advocate ensures a safe and respectful environment while conducting intakes and assessments, assisting individuals with connections to community-based services, and other duties to support the individuals and program environment we serve. This position provides a fantastic opportunity to any individual looking for experience in a unique human service environment. Cultural competence and sensitivity to mental health and substance use issues is required. Experience working with homelessness, residential services and familiarity with community resources is preferred. Positions will include evening, overnight and weekend shifts.
