Seasonal Survey / Construction Inspectors
The City of Fargo Engineering Department is seeking qualified individuals to assist in construction of public works projects; construction staking, collecting data, and/or inspection of construction projects to assure compliance with city standards and specifications. This position will read and orientate blueprint/plan sheets, interpret and apply specifications, organize and record data, perform repetitive motions, kneeling, walking and general physical labor. 45-60 hours per week. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license are also required. Experience in construction activity or classes in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred. The City of Fargo Inspections department is seeking a Building Inspector to perform structural and life safety inspections of new construction, rental housing and existing light commercial and residential dwellings. The Building Inspector I also provides education and information to building/home owners, contractors, engineers, etc. on the national and local safety standards, codes and laws, including local application and enforcement of FEMA flood requirements. Incumbents are expected to have and apply a working knowledge of codes enforced within the City. A minimum of two years of specialized/technical training in building inspections or a related field and one or more years of inspection experience or five or more years of previous experience in the field is required. Shelter/Detox Advocate (Part Time Overnights Weekends)
The Gladys Ray Shelter, Veterans Drop-In and Detox Center are seeking Part Time Shelter/Detox Advocates. The Shelter/Detox Advocate provides and enhances safe emergency shelter, drop-in services, and detox center services. The advocate meets the immediate needs of homeless persons that cannot access other shelter options in the community, as well as the needs of the detox center clients. As a direct contact for the guests and clients, the advocate ensures a safe and respectful environment while conducting intakes and assessments, assisting individuals with connections to community-based services, and other duties to support the individuals we serve and program environment. This position provides a fantastic opportunity to any individual looking for experience in a unique human service environment. Cultural competence and sensitivity to mental health and substance use issues is required.
