Seasonal Survey / Construction Inspectors
The City of Fargo Engineering Department is seeking qualified individuals to assist in construction of public works projects; construction staking, collecting data, and/or inspection of construction projects to assure compliance with city standards and specifications. This position will read and orientate blueprint/plan sheets, interpret and apply specifications, organize and record data, perform repetitive motions, kneeling, walking and general physical labor. 45-60 hours per week. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license are also required. Experience in construction activity or classes in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred. Wage is

Police OfficerPosting Closes: 10/2/2016
Work in an exciting and progressive law enforcement setting at the Fargo Police Department as a Police Officer. The department is recruiting for multiple positions.

Police Officers perform general policing functions intended to ensure the safety and security of lives and property within the City.
Activities include patrol, traffic enforcement, and investigative duties. Officers work under general supervision of a Sergeant and are assigned to a particular area of the City. Officers may be assigned to special activities or projects on an on-going or short-term basis (e.g., crime prevention, investigations, school resource officer, etc.). The work performed involves a considerable risk to personal safety for self and others and requires quick decision making when determining the appropriate action to take in a given situation. While much of this work is performed independently and without the immediate presence of a supervisor, incumbents are required to draw upon their extensive training and the department procedural guidelines, mandates, and laws governing an officer's response and conduct when determining the appropriate action to take in a particular situation. Officers are subject to call back at most times. Officers may respond to situations outside of Fargo and across state lines when called in for mutual aid.

This position requires sixty semester or ninety quarter credits of post-high school education at an accredited college, university, or technical school to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Requires passing pre-employment assessments and tests. A valid State of North Dakota peace officer license must be acquired upon hire or as determined by the department and a valid driver’s license is also required.

Applicants subject to background investigation, credit check, and personal history questionnaire screening. Upon a conditional offer, the candidate will be required to complete a BCI background check, polygraph, psychological exam, pre-placement evaluation, and drug screening. $24.53/hr plus benefits.

Environmental Health Practitioner (Fargo Cass Public Health)Posting Closes: 10/21/2016
The City of Fargo is seeking an Environmental Health Practitioner to protect the community through standardized enforcement of environmental regulations and professional consultation.

Qualifications include a baccalaureate degree in an accredited environmental health curriculum or a baccalaureate in physical, chemical, or biological sciences. Preferred candidates possess excellent communication and analytical skills as well as work well autonomously.

Candidates must possess a North Dakota Environmental Health Practitioner’s (EHP) license, or be qualified to obtain EHP licensure within three months of employment plus hold a current driver’s license. The internship’s core concentrations will be to serve as a vital asset in launching the City’s new website, expand content on the City’s social media platforms and assist the Communications & Public Affairs Manager with various tasks as assigned.
