Lateral Police Officer
The City of Fargo is currently recruiting experienced Police Officers for multiple positions to work in an exciting and progressive law enforcement setting with the Fargo Police Department.

Police Officers perform general policing functions intended to ensure the safety and security of lives and property within the City.

Activities include patrol, traffic enforcement, and investigative duties. Officers work under general supervision of a Sergeant and are assigned to a particular area of the City. Officers may be assigned to special activities or projects on an on-going or short-term basis (e.g., crime prevention, investigations, school resource officer, etc.). The work performed involves a considerable risk to personal safety for self and others and requires quick decision making when determining the appropriate action to take in a given situation. While much of this work is performed independently and without the immediate presence of a supervisor, incumbents are required to draw upon their extensive training and the department procedural guidelines, mandates, and laws governing an officer's response and conduct when determining the appropriate action to take in a particular situation. Officers are subject to call back at most times. Officers may respond to situations outside of Fargo and across state lines when called in for mutual aid.

Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of three years of full-time law enforcement experience
o Please note the following experience is not regarded as law enforcement for the purpose of this application:
• Deputy/Officer employed in a jail/prison setting
• A volunteer reserve police officer
• A military police officer
• A District Attorney investigator
• Employment on a part-time basis
• Possess a current Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification in North Dakota or another state
o If the POST certification is from another state and the incumbent is currently separated from law enforcement, the separation must not exceed 34 months

Incumbent is required to pass pre-employment assessments and tests. A valid State of North Dakota peace officer license must be acquired upon hire or as determined by the department and a valid driver’s license is also required.

Applicants are subject to a background investigation, credit check, and personal history questionnaire screening. Upon a conditional offer, the candidate will be required to complete a BCI background check, polygraph, psychological exam, pre-placement evaluation, and drug screening.

Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is $24.53 - $25.97/hour ($51,022 - $54,018/year) depending on experience. The City offers a competitive benefit package, to include a defined pension.

Equipment Operator I (Street)Posting Closes: 6/30/2017
The City of Fargo Street department has an opening for Equipment Operator I. The Equipment Operator I is responsible for maintaining/repairing streets and operating material moving equipment used in repairing blacktop, hauling materials, plowing snow, mowing grass, and excavating trenches. These positions will also work with crews to perform manual labor in the repair of storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and street/sidewalk surfaces. Incumbents must have strong communication and interpersonal skills as it relates to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public in order to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. This individual will oversee accounting functions relative to the department’s operating budget, assist with the accounting functions for capital projects budget, oversee administrative and clerical operations for the department and is responsible for properly interpreting and applying applicable codes and City policies and procedures to the functions of the work unit. The FARGODOME is seeking a Director of Marketing and Sales to oversee event-related marketing and public relations activities. The Director will work with promoters/clients, media to effectively market and publicize FARGODOME events and venue staff to effectively market and publicize FARGODOME events and the venue. Applicants are required to pass pre-employment assessments and tests. A valid State of North Dakota peace officer license must be acquired upon hire or as determined by the department and a valid driver’s license is also required.

Applicants are subject to a background investigation, credit check, and a personal history questionnaire screening. Upon a conditional offer, the candidate will be required to complete a BCI background check, polygraph, psychological exam, pre-placement evaluation, and drug screening. The starting pay is $25.02/hour ($52,042/year) plus benefits. Current or former law enforcement officers may be eligible to start at $25.77 – $26.49/hour ($53,602 - $55,099/year) depending on experience, as well as have a shortened training program.

Shelter/Detox Advocate (Part Time Overnights Weekends)
The Gladys Ray Shelter, Veterans Drop-In and Detox Center are seeking Part Time Shelter/Detox Advocates. These positions will be primarily weekends and overnights, with potential shifts as needed throughout the workweek. The Shelter/Detox Advocate provides and enhances safe emergency shelter, drop-in services, and detox center services. As a direct contact for the guests and clients, the advocate ensures a safe and respectful environment while conducting intakes and assessments, assisting individuals with connections to community-based services, and other duties to support the individuals and program environment we serve. Cultural competence and sensitivity to mental health and substance use issues is required.
