Lateral Police Officer
The City of Fargo is currently recruiting experienced Police Officers for multiple positions to work in an exciting and progressive law enforcement setting with the Fargo Police Department.

Police Officers perform general policing functions intended to ensure the safety and security of lives and property within the City.

Activities include patrol, traffic enforcement, and investigative duties. Officers work under general supervision of a Sergeant and are assigned to a particular area of the City. Officers may be assigned to special activities or projects on an on-going or short-term basis (e.g., crime prevention, investigations, school resource officer, etc.). The work performed involves a considerable risk to personal safety for self and others and requires quick decision making when determining the appropriate action to take in a given situation. While much of this work is performed independently and without the immediate presence of a supervisor, incumbents are required to draw upon their extensive training and the department procedural guidelines, mandates, and laws governing an officer's response and conduct when determining the appropriate action to take in a particular situation. Officers are subject to call back at most times. Officers may respond to situations outside of Fargo and across state lines when called in for mutual aid.

Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of three years of full-time law enforcement experience
o Please note the following experience is not regarded as law enforcement for the purpose of this application:
• Deputy/Officer employed in a jail/prison setting
• A volunteer reserve police officer
• A military police officer
• A District Attorney investigator
• Employment on a part-time basis
• Possess a current Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification in North Dakota or another state
o If the POST certification is from another state and the incumbent is currently separated from law enforcement, the separation must not exceed 34 months

Incumbent is required to pass pre-employment assessments and tests. A valid State of North Dakota peace officer license must be acquired upon hire or as determined by the department and a valid driver’s license is also required.

Applicants are subject to a background investigation, credit check, and personal history questionnaire screening. Upon a conditional offer, the candidate will be required to complete a BCI background check, polygraph, psychological exam, pre-placement evaluation, and drug screening.

Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is $25.52 - $27.02/hour ($53,082 - $56,202/year) depending on experience. The City offers a competitive benefit package, to include a defined pension.

Essential Duties

• Completes preliminary project research and documentation
• Plans, designs, reviews, and writes specifications for utility and paving projects for City,
State and federally funded projects in compliance with city standards and Federal and
local regulations
• Monitors progress of construction projects to ensure conformance with contracts,
specifications and schedules
• Manages project budgets
• Effectively communicates with the general public, contractors, and businesses to address
project concerns, technical issues, public relations, etc.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field

Compensation and Benefits

Public Works Services ManagerPosting Closes: 2/23/2018
The City of Fargo Public Works Department is currently seeking a proven and experienced professional to serve as the Public Works Services Manager. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient administration and coordination of the skilled and technical work in the operation and maintenance of the Street and Water Divisions. Current operational functions of these divisions consist of: Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, Storm Sewer Collection, Streets and Right-of-Way Maintenance.

The successful candidate will have a background in public works operations, project management, and engineering; will be a skilled problem solver with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; able to respond to emergency and problem situations in an effective manner. Possess highly developed management skills that include the ability to select, train and evaluate employees; make sound and effective decisions regarding operational and personnel functions; understand, explain and apply policies and procedures; analyze unusual situations and resolve them through application of management principles and practices; develop comprehensive plans to meet future City needs/services; deal constructively with conflict and develop effective resolutions; develop effective relationships with peers/employees at all levels of the organization and with City residents; effectively supervise others and enforce a balanced budget; develop new policies impacting divisional operations/procedures; the ability to perform other related duties as required. Expectations for this position also include the ability to attend meetings and/or events on evenings and/or weekends.

Requirements:
Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. Example combinations include equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field, AND five (5) years of progressively responsible, diversified professional public works operations and maintenance experience, including or supplemented by experience in supervision/management. A valid CDL license is also required.

Current salary range is $7,015 to $9,119/mo., plus benefits.

The City of Fargo Engineering Department is seeking qualified individuals to assist in construction of public works projects; construction staking, collecting data, and/or inspection of construction projects to assure compliance with city standards and specifications.

Essential duties
This position will read and orientate blueprint/plan sheets, interpret and apply specifications, organize and record data, perform repetitive motions, kneeling, walking and general physical labor. 45-60 hours per week.

The City of Fargo is seeking a Control Systems Manager for the Water Filtration Department. This position, under general direction, installs, programs, monitors, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs the water treatment plant’s computer control system and all its related hardware, software, electrical and electronic controls, the network, and related instruments rated up to 480 volts.

This position requires an Associate’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering technology or a closely related field and six or more years of previous experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical devices and electronic equipment (PLC’s), computer network operations, two years of experience of SCADA systems and HMI software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Possession of North Dakota Grade 4 Operator’s Certificate (or equivalent) in Water and/or Wastewater and a valid driver’s license are also required.

Airport Firefighter (Municipal Airport Authority)Posting Closes: 3/9/2018
The Airport Firefighter serves as a team member to carry out fire suppression and rescue, medical emergency response, fire prevention and hazardous material emergency response activities, this includes fires, or the potential of fires, involving aircraft and operational processes located at Hector International Airport.

The Airport Firefighter performs various maintenance activities on fire equipment and fire station facility and is responsible for the care and safe operation of department equipment of a high monetary value. This position is an operational firefighter position and will require the incumbent to crew an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) apparatus and participate in hot zone activities during emergency response operations. Work performed can be considerably hazardous and requires the airport firefighter to follow the direction of supervisors and to draw upon the extensive training and/or experience they receive on-the-job to make quick judgments in extremely volatile situations. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to austere conditions including elevated temperatures, extreme cold, highly stressful situations, and chaotic environments. The Airport Firefighter will assist airport operations personnel in providing Airport Operations Area (AOA) maintenance activities to ensure effective, efficient and safe operation of the airport, according to federal regulations under the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements. This position is subject to emergency call-back 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.

Minimum Qualifications
Must have a High school diploma or GED, as well as, hold current IFSAC or Pro Board certifications in Firefighter I & II, Airport Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations, Emergency Medical Responder or higher and C.P.R. Certification Completion of FEMA Courses ICS 100, 200, 700 & 800 required within 90 days of employment date.
